Very much the electric brother of “Tales”, the writing of this album followed on while I was mixing the previous album.

So Quickly
Beauty. All alone without memories
Hiding out in the darkness. Lying fast in my weakness
And it feels so cold, so late, so long, so quickly

Far out. You’ve been left here with no doubt
That the (your) chances are dying. No more hope left in trying
And it feels so cold, so late, so long, so quickly

Farther out along the level, crisis comes, won’t let you settle down
It’s somewhere you’ve found
And it feels so cold, so late, so long, so quickly

Changing
Coming closer to the eye, check inside your windows baby
Far from me to terrify, look beyond your mirror maybe

I know the changes are real and believing
I know the changes are fighting between you and me

Lift the skin to see the light, go beneath the surface baby
Want to see you qualify, failing now on purpose baby

Ghosts Of This Town (I Don’t Love Her Anymore)
You come around and my life changed once and for all
Fortune was found the past comes crashing to the floor
‘Cause you and I we can laugh if we want to blame it on the sun
And you and I can smile if we want to, won’t get nothing done

You come around and I can lay the ghosts of this town
Bringing them down I know that now, she’s lasted too long
‘Cause you and I we can sleep if we want to forget everyone
You and I we can keep if we want to all the things we’ve done

‘Cause I don’t love her anymore

You come around to show me where the love was waiting
You come around and I can give the time I’m saving
‘Cause you and I live the life that we want to, sailing for the sun
And you and I we’ll be right when we want to, who’s to say we were wrong

All Brand New
It’s been a life so far where nothing stayed the same
You come out of nowhere and you call my name
I’m beginning to smile then I’m turning to you
You look my way and now it’s all brand new, it’s all brand new

It’s a wonderful time in this world that we know
Nothing stays in shape as time has shown
For all of the times I might have questioned you
You reach for my hand and say it’s all brand new, it’s all brand new

Breath Of A Baby
Messages maybe flying over me. These eyes are amazing lying here
And I look into your life, it’s the coming of ages to me

We’re messing with angels lying here tonight. Always a danger I can tell
And I don’t see why we can, ‘cause you’re the breath of a baby to me

So hide the miracles now and the midnight conversation away from here.
It’s what the image is now, in this bedroom constellation, take me away.

I’m talking with angels lying here with you. Searching for something I can’t find
And I don’t see why we can, it’s the breath of a baby to me.

Waiting forever now so patiently here in the darkness, I can tell
That you’re all I’ll ever want. You’re the breath of a baby to me.

So bring the ribbons and bows and the ticker-tape reception, bring it here to me
And watch the hours run slow into the midnight celebration, breath of a baby
And let the years come and go, and the lifelong education, bring it all to me
And through the days ahead know, that you’re the life I had to offer, breath of a baby.

Day Of Doubt
I guess I’ll never understand, or work it out
I guess I’ll never learn to live with or without

Tenderness again, faithfulness again
Waiting for the days of stone to bend

I cannot see between the lines, beyond the page
I cannot see amongst the wasting of the days

Tenderness again, faithfulness again
Looking at the shape of hope to send

I’ve been far, I’ve been near
Never close, never wanting to be
Here in my drought, it’s all about
It’s another day of doubt

Tenderness again, when chaos is a friend
Looking for that same old hope to send

You Look Like Yesterday
Slick hair, smart suit and a
Drain pipe, it’s all you
Fake sneer, fake eyes and a
Cheap tie

You look like yesterday

New lines, and an old beat
And a false claim to know your street
And I want to go back, and get mine,
45s

You look like yesterday

Do you realise, that you waste my time
My time, my time..............away

This desire, you want to be
The top band in the, NME
But you push on, despite
That you really
Look like yesterday

To The Shore
I took all those tiny pieces
And the splinters in my hands
Built a boat across the river
Sailing to your land

And at the middle of my journey
I through my faith straight overboard
Took an axe upon this moment
Just to need you more

So get me to the shore, get me to the shore
I don’t want to have to swim no more
Get me to the shore, get me to the shore
Trouble all the time I sink this for

And for all those kindly people
Passing waving cheering hands
Not a soul could (dare) leave the shoreline
Waiting for the end, waiting for my end

It’s Not Enough
I run for cover when you get things right
I change my daily patterns overnight
And I know, time is tough
Oooh, It’s not enough

Give me a finer potion in my hand
Send me for finishing above my stand
And I’ll try, all that stuff
Oooh, It’s not enough

To live a better life
I need my lover here
I’ll do my best to try
To keep the smiles from the fear

Throw me a betting slip of life surprise
Tell me the winner as I close my eyes
And believe me, I cannot bluff
Oooh, It’s not enough

Tell a story of a golden sight
Let me sing it with my name in lights
And a fortune made out of love
Oooh, It’s not enough

Just Because (Blues For Ms P)
Just because I never say it
Just because I never knew
Just because you wouldn’t know it
Doesn’t mean I don’t love you

Just because you’ve never heard it
Just because I play a fool
Just because I’d never show it
Doesn’t mean I don’t love you

Just because you didn’t mean it
Of all the words you had to choose
And every chance I’ve had to blow it
Doesn’t mean that I don’t mean it too
Doesn’t mean.............

Wretched Boy
Found a home in a city late at night
Dressed like Brando at the bar, first solo flight
Bring the butterfly a flame, you caught alight,
And hid your smile…in heaven so wild

Never feeling that the answers were in sight
Tangled up in darkness, longing for the light
See beyond my bedroom wall tonight
It’s time to fly…..so come on

Wake up wretched boy, sing us a song that takes (me) us away, back home
Wake up wretched boy, sing us a song that finds you the way back home

Take me back to when the poets had their time
Breathe the freshness of the river of your mind
What’s a poor boy do so far behind
(Wait to be left alone…….so come on)

Throw down a sad tear on my aching head tonight
Wash the years away and take me to that time
I will travel to the end of any line with you inside, you inside

Now they want to know you like a letter to the sky
Catch the stars, you’ll always be more part of mine
Do you know how many souls you might have saved tonight............
(Wouldn’t you like to know……so come on)

(Thanks Keeft)

Coming Down (Cheap Sunsets)
Coming down, there’s a holy host of people sitting round
There’s a thousand empty bottles in this house
Not a single cigarette left to be found

Coming round, there’s some couple who are cleaning up the room
There are bodies inside sleeping bag cocoons
And a memory of a night that’s gone too soon

Never thought it would ever end
Never thought I could be myself
And a darkness waits before the light of future days beyond this mess

Looking back on sunsets (looking back)
Looking back on cheap, cheap sunsets
And ahead to all the days I’ve never known and never will
(Never knew the way ahead)

Coming down, I’ve got trouble simply reaching for my crown
As the king of fifty unforgiven clowns
Like the devil on a string before I drown

Coming round, there is nothing that I want to do about
There’s a special emptiness, and not a sound
And I’ll never know this time, next time around

Coming down, after all those lovely evil nights I’ve known
Though the years have left me trying not to grow
When all that’s left is love, this loving I will show
